EMI 1936 Emitron Television Camera short neck tube

EMI Prototype short necked Emitron Television Camera tube

This prototype Emitron tube, is before the "scan coil pinch" was added to the design and the tube is without the base connection fitting at the gun end of the tube. The bulb accommodating the target seems to be larger in diameter too.

This tube was photographed in the the annex of the National Museum of Scotland (Edinburgh) by Peter Scott. It is not currently on display (2017)

3 short neck tubes are thought to survive, these 2 at the NMS and one other for which there is a poor recent photograph by Peter Scott.

Long and short neck Emitron tubes, notes
