Dr Paul K. Weimer's experimental tubeless camera from 1968, see report in IBE May 1968. This describes the camera as having 32,400 microscopic dots of photocnductive material depostied in a grid pattern.

 

As part of the demonstration there was a companion transmitter to send the picture directly to a TV.
