This camera was developed by the Philips ELA group (Electro Acoustics) in 1964 using the experience gained with the “Medical” camera and an experimental plumbicon camera.

The very first versions had a turret lens which was soon abandoned in favor of a zoom lens. Further development was done in conjunction with CBS in the USA leading to the Norelco branded PC60.
