EMI made this experimental field sequential colour camera in 1951. It has a rotating disk with coloured segments to provide the analysis of the colour. The camera field rate was 150Hz. so that a sequential red, green & blue picture was produced at 3 x 50hz. rate.
I think this camera's electronics may be based on the EMI 4051 camera using the midget image emitron tube (Super Emitron).

One serious drawback with this idea was the effects of movements in the scene which produced colour fringing at the movement edges and also the incompatibility with the existing TV 405/50 standard. In 1953 this was overcome by a unit called a Chromacoder. It had 3 crts to store the sequential red, green and blue pictures and 3 cameras running at the normal 50Hz. rate. A kind of optical standards converter!
